3 Brown Sugar DIY's for Soft Skin

Brown sugar is a fantastic exfoliator. Not only is it a cheap alternative to more expensive exfoliators, but it has smaller particles that traditional sugar, making it more gentle on skin. Not only that, but brown sugar is made of glycolic acid, which can help to fight bacteria looking to interfere with your skin. 

So, let’s look at three easy recipes you can use to make a brown sugar exfoliant. 

1. Brown Sugar Scrub for Face


  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup honey


  1. Mix brown sugar, olive oil, and honey in a large bowl
  2. Once mixed, place in an airtight container
  3. Store in a warm, dry place for up to two months

2. Brown Sugar Scrub for Body


  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup softened coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Combine brown sugar, coconut oil, and vanilla extract in a bowl
  2. Store in airtight container and store for up to one month

3. Brown Sugar Scrub for Feet and Hands


  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup milk or cream
  • a dash of cinnamon
  • 4 drops lemon essential oil


  1. Mix ingredients in a large bowl with a whisk
  2. Store in airtight container for up to a month
