3 Skincare Ingredients You Need to Conquer Oily Skin

3 Skincare Ingredients You Need to Conquer Oily Skin

By Monet Moore Posted on

The skin is an amazing organ. It protects the body from the outside world, has incredible regenerative properties, and even creates its own oil to stay moisturized. It’s that oil production that can lead to problems for many people.

Oily skin is a very common issue, and it’s pretty simple to pinpoint why it happens. Like we said, the skin produces its own oil called sebum through the sebaceous glands. The purpose of sebum is to waterproof the skin and keep it moisturized.

So what happens when those glands become overactive? You get oily skin. This isn’t just annoying, but can lead to breakouts. But, there are three ingredients you can look for in skincare products to help combat the overproduction of oil.

1. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is great, natural way to help with oily skin. First, Aloe is made up of over 100 vitamins, nutrients, minerals, amino acids, and more that promote growth and regeneration of the skin. It’s also a natural astringent that can absorb the excess oil produced by the skin. This prevents it from mixing with dead skin and bacteria, which can lead to breakouts. Aloe penetrates the deepest layers of the skin, healing up to the surface. It’s safe to say that Aloe is a go-to substance for any skin problem!

2. Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is the ultimate trickster when it comes to oily skin. You see, this oil is extremely similar to the makeup of sebum, your skin’s natural oil. By applying jojoba oil to your face, it convinces your skin that it has enough sebum, allowing it to stop producing. It’s a pretty sneaky way to re-balance and level out your oil production, while staying moisturized.

3. Green Tea Leaf

Green tea leaf is the perfect fighter against oily skin and acne, as it inhibits the production of excess sebum. There are androgenic hormones that stimulate the glands to produce oil. Green tea goes in and interacts with the hormones, leveling them out and bringing a moisture that is packed full of nutrients to the pores.

If you have oily skin, there is hope that doesn’t involve an excess of blotting paper. By incorporating these three ingredients into your skincare routine, you can subvert some the overproduction of oil causing your skin to become shiny.
