Nighttime Skincare for Every Skin Type

Nighttime Skincare for Every Skin Type

By Monet Moore Posted on

Skincare can be one of the most confusing processes to attempt. There are so many routine suggestions out there. Which one is correct? Well, that all depends on you.

Learning your skin type is an important part of figuring out what your skin needs. That being said, it’s always good to have a starting point. So, we’ve done the work for you! We’ve curated a general skincare routine that you can use on it’s own, or as a base for your personal routine.

Let’s get into it!

1. Remove makeup

Step one is to remove any and all makeup. This is important because makeup can often block the cleanser from reaching and cleaning deep into your pores. It’s important to be gentle with your skin when removing makeup. One of the best options is to put some micellar water on a cotton pad. This will take your makeup off quickly while being gentle and without leaving a slimy or oily residue.

2. Cleanser

After you’ve taken all your makeup off, it’s time to cleanse. You have two options at this point: either your can pick a cleanser specific to your skin type (i.e. oily, dry, acne prone, etc.) or you can choose a general gentle cleanser. Since this article is not specific to any skin type, we’re going to recommend a gentle cleanser.

Get your face wet with warm water and rub your cleanser gently into your skin with circular motions. This is also the time to break out a fancy spinbrush if you feel so inclined. Continue cleansing your face for 60 seconds or about how long it takes to sing the entire Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song. Then rinse and pat your face dry.

3. Toner

Now that your face is fully cleansed and dry, it’s time to move on to step three, toning. This is a controversial step, as some use it and some don’t. We’re going to include it for the sake of being inclusive, but use it up to your.

Toning is meant to balance the pH and moisture levels in your face. We recommend going natural with the toning step, opting for organic witch hazel as opposed to a more pricey chemical toner. This can be applied the same way as the micellar water, with a cotton pad.

4.Treatments

Now is the time to apply any skincare treatments that you may be doing. If you are currently using an acne treatment, for instance, this is the step for you.

5. Eye cream

The skin around your eyes is frequently neglected when it comes to skincare. Some of the thinnest skin on your body is around your eyes, so it’s important to keep it moisturized. Opting for an eye cream over a general moisturizer is ideal as an eye cream has been formulated with your delicate skin in mind. Just dot it around your eye and pat in gently.

6. Mask or Oil

Whether you’re a mask lover or oil lover, this is the step for you. Take some time for yourself and relax with a sheet or clay mask. Another option is to apply some facial oil. A great choice would be Argan oil, which is super hydrating and healing with vitamin E and antioxidants.

7. Moisturizer

The final and arguably the most important step is your moisturizer. No matter what your skin type or texture is, moisturizing is essential to maintaining healthy, nourished skin. Since we’re really describing an “every-person” routine, we’re going to highlight a moisturizer that fits all skin types.

Aloe Infusion Face and Body moisturizer is the perfect blend of hydration and healing that can make any skin soft and supple. Topping your skincare routine off with a thick, nutrient-rich substance like aloe will not only supply your skin with countless nutritional benefits, but seal in the previous products and allow them to do their work undisturbed.
